MacKay House - Kempt Head
An interesting story that was retold by a local historian is that Dolly MacKay, who once owned the house can remember sneaking out of her father's home to go to the dances which were held in Boxer Jack Munro's house located over six kilometers up the road. She would sneak through the woods without a light and return before anyone would notice she was missing.
This house once featured beautiful three arched Gothic windows which have been replaced by one large modern picture window. The house still has the return eaves and the original veranda.
This house has retained some of the original aspects of its architecture, such as the return eaves.
