The land on which this house was built was long ago occupied by Mi'kmaq. In the walls of the house the current owners found a time capsule during renovations. It contained such items as toys, a slate and a newspaper documenting the sinking of the Titanic.
This two storey house was built by Siblous Howley, a coal miner, around 1895. It is in the Maritime Box style.
This was the site of a Mi'kmaq dwelling before the arrival of settlers.
