Boularderie East Post Office
Kempt Head Road
1870

This house was once the site of the Boularderie East Post Office.

Architectural Comment

This is a Gothic Revival style house. It has a steeply pitched roof and the exterior is shingle with corner boards. The interior of the house has been extensively renovated. The exterior has new windows and doors.

Contextual Comment

The location of most post offices was dependent on political affiliation; if the homeowner's politics were aligned with the party in power, the house could become the local post office. However, if an election changed the party in power, the post office would likely move to a nearby supporter on the freshly elected party.
