Grant House
Kempt Head Road
1860

The original owners of this house moved it after a number of their children died in it.

Architectural Comment

This one and a half storey house was originally built in the Classic Revival style. Windows were and still are double hung, but originals have been replaced.

Contextual Comment

The house was moved to its present location approximately six years after it was built. Originally located much closer to the water, the family at the time opted to move the house after several children died. They felt the house was in a poor location, and may have contributed to the children's deaths.
