Grant House
Ross Ferry Road
1870

The Campbell family built this farmhouse in the 1870’s. This house is being occupied by the second generation of Grants who have operated Grant's Store for close to 70 years.

Architectural Comment

It is a typical Cape Breton farmhouse that has remained largely unchanged since it was built. It has a dormer over the ell and an enclosed porch which was added at a later date. It has two brick inset chimneys.

Contextual Comment

This house's frontal dormer, side gable, and front ell make its stylistic appearance vernacular. It sits across from the Grants’ store, and has been the residence of the Grant family for decades.
